Please identify this bird by its description?
I live in a fairly developed suburb in Northern Va. and I recently saw a small, squat gray bird with a short beak, white streaks in the wings and tail sitting on a branch of a tree in my workplace parking lot. However, I can't seem to find the species of bird in my internet roamings. Can someone please help me id this bird? It was smaller than a pigeon or dove and around the same size or slightly larger than a sparrow.
There are a lot of birds this can be..hard to say for sure..need more info. I can make a wild guess at a Ruby-crowned Kinglet..but really it could be anything. Kinglets are very jittery birds and if it was one..it would have been moving around alot chasing bugs..they do not sit still for long periods of time.
