E6000 drives me nuts sometimes! Glue strings every where, blobs I didn't plan on.....?
By now, you would think I would have figured out a way to use E6000 to make pin-point glue spots. I decorate walking canes and sometimes put Swarovski crystal rhinestones on them. I'm working on one for a bass player in a rock band (only 36 y/o & had stroke). He wants it "over the top" with crystals.
But applying the E6000 invariably leaves little strings and blobs I didn't count on. These show up the next day especially on a black shaft of a cane.
So, my question: How do I put crystal size points of E6000 without leaving strings or visible blobs? The less I use, the drier the glue gets while I get the right crystal. Even the glue in the tube opening dries up. I've used toothpicks, awls, pins, etc. The glue always gets too dry after a couple crystals.
Well, actually I wouldn't use E6000. It's great but I use GEM TAC, as Diane B. suggested.
I learned about Getm Tac (but it's sold in craft stores) from the guy who runs the website that I provided a link for.
He's used Gem Tac for adhering rhinestones to a MOTORCYCLE so it's pretty tough! He provides get info about the whole rhinestone process.
I put some of the Gem Tac in a dish, use a toothpic to take some out and then I dab that onto my project. He sells all kinds of applicators etc...
Also, for my research, he has the BEST prices on rhinestones. From his website I've purchased the Swarovski and the other, (I forget it's name) and I think the non-Swarovski is actually more reflective and nicer, besides more affordable.
