cheese platter entertaining?
I am planning on catering my own wedding reception. I want real casual kind of a deal. I have seen really creative ways, more like art, for fruit. Anybody know of any great ways to display cheese and meat cubes other than on a tray with parsley. I want something for the "wow" factor.
Home Depot sell marble tiles. prices range from a little over a dollar for 12x12, to $6 for an 18x18. Get a couple of tiles, put sturdy boxes in various heights under the table cloth (or get the little decorative pillars for on top of the table cloth) and top with the tile. find interesting baskets made out of metal or twigs to serve crackers and breads. Pile grapes and berries around the different cheeses - drape the grapes over the edges of the tiles. After the wedding - add the little rubber feet to the bottom of the tiles for future use to protect wood tables. Other ideas - look for glass and metal cake stands at flea markets. Or old frameless mirrors (which can be turned into a cool wall display after the wedding).
